Opening this autumn, the hotel is made up of nine rooms and suites set across two buildings, as well as one detached luxury three-bedroom cottage.

The Blonde Hedgehog
Built in 1750 as the Rose & Crown pub, the hotel’s main building is home to four rooms, named Lapins, Spikes, The Burrow and The Den – a nod to the island’s varied wildlife.

Clarence House
Originally a family home for Alderney’s aristocracy, this Georgian townhouse still retains some of its original features. Named after different areas of the island, Clarence House is comprised of three guest rooms – Beaumont, Sauchet and Tourgis – and two suites, Le Huret and Le Marais.

The Corner House
Dating back to 1740, when it was a workers’ cottage, The Corner House has three bedrooms and is perfect for families or groups of friends visiting Alderney. Located across the road from The Blonde Hedgehog, The Corner House features a lounge with fireplace, as well as a fully equipped kitchen and dining area. The cottage has fabulous outdoor space, complete with a fire pit and seating on the ground floor, and a spacious roof terrace connected to the master bedroom, offering views of the island and surrounding waters.

Inspired by the rustic charm of Alderney and designed to encourage guests to enjoy life’s simple pleasures, the hotel’s interiors are by Charlie Horner Design. Using an eclectic mix of vintage and antique pieces, as well as British brands including OKA and Parker Howley & Co, the property is a true home away from home.

Led by head chef Matt Clarke, The Blonde Hedgehog restaurant will be at the heart of the hotel and serve farm-to-table dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, including produce from their own kitchen garden. The menu will focus on contemporary dining with a traditional twist.

The Blonde Hedgehog is available from £230 per night, based on two adults sharing, including breakfast.

Note to editors:
Alderney is the northernmost of the inhabited Channel Islands, and a well-kept secret amongst those who have come to know and love it. At three miles long and one and a half miles wide, visitors are never far from the beautiful coastline and endless stretches of white-gold beaches. Enjoy walking along the stunning cliff paths, rock pooling, birdwatching and discover the island’s fascinating history by exploring the untouched Victorian Era and WWII forts.

The hotel takes its name from the island’s thriving population of hedgehogs – notably the rare blonde variety. They can be found foraging around the island after sunset from spring to autumn.
